This weekend we went to the funny car races at Sacramento Raceway. I’d never been to any car races, moto-cross, nothing, and I had no idea what to expect. Our tickets gave us pit access, and I was envisioning us down on the track, in the pits, while they changed the tires and such. Um. No. Actually, pit access is way cooler than that! We got to walk around all the cars as they were being unloaded, put together and warmed up. It was pretty much the coolest thing I’ve ever seen, and I learned a lot of things I had no idea about. For instance, some of the cars aren’t set up to actually drive, so they get pulled where they need to be, and then they race. Oh, and did you know that they have more than just funny cars when you to a funny car race??? I didn’t! We saw all kinds of cars, from street legal 11 second cars to nitro burning 250mph cars, and everything in between, including motorcycles that go 150-200mph!!! So yeah. I’m getting out my wife beaters and a cooler, and I’ll be spending a lot of time at the racetrack this summer. I want to see more funny cars, more motorcycles, some tractor pulls, and hell, let’s throw in some monster trucks too! And when I’m not there, you’ll find me at the River Cats games. Looks like it’s gonna be a fun filled summer!
